If you are traveling to Bolivia, a day trip to the Uyuni Salt Flats is something that can't be missed. Cruise along out-of-this-world landscapes and take incredible perspective photos in the world's largest salt flats.

The Salar de Uyuni or “salt flats” is one of the world's highest deserts, surrounded by mountains and volcanoes that reaches 5000 meters (16,400 feet) above sea level.

Start your tour with a visit to Uyuni's 'train graveyard' to see the first locomotives in Bolivia. Then, visit the small village of Colchani (salt miners workshops next to the salt flats) before continuing on to the great salt flats of Uyuni. Along the way, see many piles of salt and the 'eyes of the salt' (big holes in the salt flats where the water, from underneath this death lake, still comes out by high pressure).

Take photos as you cruise along the vast white expanse of salt, and visit a hotel made completely of salt. After lunch, travel to Inca Huasi (Fish Island), in the middle of the salt flats, where you will have time to take a hike to the top of the island to see giant cactus and rock formations made of petrified coral.

Take time to organize your group for fun perspective and proportion-distorted photos on the blinding white surface of the salt flats. Then make your way to the foot of the big Volcano Tunupa (5,434m / 17,828 feet) to appreciate a nice view and get some pictures. Return back to Uyuni around 7pm, stopping along the way to enjoy a fantastic sunset in the Salar of Uyuni.

On this private 3-hour tour from Potosi, experience what it's like to work in the mines of Cerro Rico, and tour this city at 14,520 feet (4,400m) —one of the highest cities in the world. Accompanied by your private guide, you'll enjoy a sightseeing tour of Potosi and stop at a mining market, before touring an active mine outside town and interacting with workers. It's here where you'll see the harsh conditions the miners endure each day, and get the feel for live as a local up here at Cerro Rico.

This 3-hour journey begins with a sightseeing tour around Potosí, as well as a stop at the mining market on your way up to Cerro Rico.

At the market you'll find the tools and materials that miners use every day, and you can buy dynamite, alcohol and coca leaves to give as presents to the miners. Shortly before dropping down into the mines, you'll make a stop at a small storage room to don work pants, a jacket, boots, helmet, as well as a lamp for security.

These mines are all located in the heart of Potosí's historical Cerro Rico—a place that translates as "Hill of Riches," considering over two billion ounces of silver have been extracted. The work in the mines is hard, however, and the process today is still much the same as it was when the mines were founded. Hear the tales of dynamite explosions and air compressors beneath ground, and tour the different galleries and levels throughout the mine's maze-like interior.

Since the subterranean work is dangerous, you'll also see the small statues where miners pray for protection, as well as the interesting mineral veins and chemical formations in the rocks. Perhaps most humbling is having the chance to talk with the miners themselves, and offer them gifts as a small token of your appreciation for their work.

At the end of the tour you are driven back to the departure point in Potosi.

Experience the rich, natural diversity of the Amazon on a 4-day excursion to Bolivia’s Las Pampas – a wetland savannah area replete with exotic wildlife – from La Paz. After a short flight to Rurrenabaque, you’ll travel deep into the pampas in search of anacondas, caimans and capybara. Take a boat trip at dawn to see rare pink dolphins; learn about Bolivian traditions like chewing coco leaves; and embark on night walks to glimpse nocturnal wildlife. All meals, three nights’ accommodation and return transport from La Paz is included.

Day 1 - Flight from La Paz to Rurrenabaque & Arrival at the Amazon (L/D)
Early flight around 6am from La Paz to Rurrenabaque. Please make your own way from the airport to Rurrenabaque city center and start your adventure there at 8:45 AM. You will travel from Rurrenabaque to Santa Rosa, arriving by noon at Santa Rosa. Here you share a traditional Bolivian lunch of hot soup, meat, rice, yucca, vegetables, and fresh fruit. From Santa Rosa, you proceed by boat down the Yacuma River. Keep an eye out for the wildlife. You will arrive at the Eco-lodge around 4pm. Settle in before heading out again. Just a few minutes down river, you can buy snacks and drinks from a small shack. Once the sun sets over the open expanse of the pampas, you head back to the lodge for dinner. When the sun sets, the pampas wakes up. You will set out in the boat with flashlights in search of the biggest predator of all: caimans. They hunt along the river during the night, eating snakes, fish and the stray bird.

Day 2 - Activities in the Amazon (B/L/D)
In the morning, you share a hearty meal of eggs, pancakes, pastries, and fresh fruit. After breakfast, you don high rubber boots (for the swampy terrain and to protect against snakebites) and head into the high grass of the pampas in search of anacondas. After a long morning in the sun, you may wish to spend the hottest part of the day swimming in the river (use the rope swing) or lying down for a siesta in the shade. After lunch, head out for a fishing trip to catch piranhas (activity subject to change). As evening sets in, you motor back downriver to the small shack from yesterday. Then you head back to the lodge to eat. Typical dinners include rice, lentils, pasta, salads, fresh vegetables, and bread. When you've eaten your fill, your guide joins you to introduce a Bolivian tradition: chewing coco leaves. As night falls, candles will be passed out to invite guests to chat or play cards.

Day 3 - Activities in the Amazon & Return to Rurrenabaque (B/L)
For those guests who like to get an early start, offered, is a pre-dawn ride a bit downriver. You arrive at an open spot to watch the slow spectacle of sunrise. After breakfast, you set off upriver to a small lake where pink dolphins often congregate to socialize. If you'd like, you're welcome to jump into the water for the unforgettable experience of swimming with these rare animals. The recommended months to see and swim with the dolphins are between December to March. After your swim, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon set off for the return ride to Rurrenabaque, where you'll overnight.

Day 4 - Flight back from Rurrenabaque to La Paz (B)
Today you will make your own way to the airport and take your flight back to La Paz. The flight times depend on the day, but usually there are 4 flights daily: 7:20am, 12:45pm, 4:20pm and 6:25pm.
