Up to now more than 10,000 dinosaur footprints have been found in the Cal Orcko cliff, traces that can be seen from the Cretaceous Park.

The Tour is organized from the pick-up and drop-off from the Hotels of Sucre, Bolivia.
We enjoy an overnight trip from Sucre to Uyuni, upon arrival after a delicious breakfast, we visit the great Salar de Uyuni, Isla Incahuasi, and the tour ends with a spectacular sunset on the salar of Uyuni enjoying reflection in the water .
At the end of the Tour we return to Sucre in our touristic bus to travel another 8 hours.

The service starts at 7:00 p.m., with the pick up of customers from the Hotel in Sucre in private mobility, to move to the bus terminal and take the tourist bus that will take us to Uyuni for 8 hours.
Upon arrival, you will be waiting for a private mobility to take us to a cafe to enjoy a delicious breakfast, and also an option to take a hot shower.

We start at about 10:00am, in our 4wd car and a professional guide, and visit the train cemetery before heading to the Great Salt Lake. Meet on the way the people of Colchani, where we will see an artisan salt processing plant.

Visit then the Sal Flats, to know about waterholes and to observe how the salt is being extracted. 

Then proceed to Incahuasi Island (known as Fish Island) where you can observe the famous giant cactus, and you can enjoy a delicious lunch. Lunch will be served in the middle of the Great Salt Lake, at the convenient time.

Then we go to Coquesa and visit the cave of the mummies, which is located on the slopes of the Tunupa volcano, where you can see a beautiful landscape and enjoy the beauty of the Great Uyuni Salt Flats.

Later, before returning to Uyuni, observe the sunset accompanied by a special toast at the largest salt lake of the world! 

Arrival in Uyuni is approximately 7:00pm.

Enjoy magnificent views along the Cordillera de Los Frailes, explore the crater of Maragua and witness the unbelievable dinosaur footprints, take in the scenery from high up above the Pilcomayo River, and stay in rustic cabins in the rugged indigenous Quechua town of Potolo.

Day 1
Travel like a local by micro, the main form of urban public transport in Bolivia, to the outskirts of Sucre and then by camion to Chataquila, which sits perched atop the Cordillera de los Frailes. Visit a lovely stone chapel dedicated to the Virgin and take in the incredible views of whitewashed, colonial Sucre behind you. Begin trekking just after midday down towards caves full of rock paintings, where you will enjoy your well-deserved lunch. Learn about these mystifying paintings before hiking further down to the small village of Chaunaca, on the River Ravelo, where you will stay for the night. Here, you will have the option to camp or stay in a home in the local community.

Day 2
After breakfast and an optional swim, walk past magnificent rock formations along the river to Socopampa. Cross the river via the suspension bridge and head past waterfalls and spectacular rock strata, looking over views of the river and the distant Inca Trail. From the top, take in the distance you have covered and bask in the western face of the Cordillera. Continue trekking to the Crater of Maragua, one of the most impressive and beautiful landscapes in all of Bolivia. You’ll have the opportunity to stand above La Garganta del Diablo, the waterfall known as the Devil’s Throat, and enter the cave which is his mouth, La Boca del Diablo. Spend the night in the village of Irupampa in the heart of the crater, and witness the making of their famous colorful woven textiles.

Day 3
Rise at dawn and eat breakfast before heading west out of the crater. Take in stunning views of the crater as you continue on through picturesque valleys. From the crater, you will reach the incredible dinosaur footprint site of Niñu Mayu, where you can see the footprints of dinosaurs embedded in pure rock. Stop for lunch before hiking through another scenic valley, past farmhouses and tranquil villages high above the Pilcomayo River, on your way to the remote Quechua village of Potolo.

Day 4
Sleep in Potolo's rustic cabins and awake refreshed before enjoying a late breakfast and traveling back through the valley of the Rio Potolo and over the Cordillera de Los Frailes to return to Sucre.

This 10-day tour provides an introduction to the fascinating culture of Bolivia and its local communities. Starting with the cultural and industrial centers of Sucre and Potosi, you will learn about Bolivia’s turbulent history from its indigenous heritage to it colonization by the Spanish to its present-day focus on mining and agriculture. Once acquainted with Bolivia’s history it’s off to the ruggedly beautiful south-west where you will explore the lunar-like landscapes of the Uyuni Salt Flats. Continue your journey, via the thriving city of La Paz to the bright blue waters of the famous Lake Titicaca, high up in the Andean Mountains.

This itinerary is a very adventurous option as you travel on local transport, including trains and buses for a more authentic journey through Bolivia. You will be accompanied by local guides who will provide insight into the history and culture of the country and who will help the trip to run smoothly from beginning to end. The tour finishes at the shores of Lake Titicaca in Puno, Peru, making it ideally suited for further travel into Peru and other neighboring countries.
